Beyond Words: A Journey Through the Spiral of Turkish Language Teaching and Culture

Updated: Oct 16, 2023

Hello!

An impressive and colorful header image with the title "My Journey in Teaching Turkish". The image is decorated with symbols related to Turkish culture and language learning, such as books, the Turkish flag, tea cups and an illustration of Cappadocia balloons.
My journey to teaching Turkish

I'm Furkan, perhaps your new Turkish teacher! 🚀 For years, I taught Turkish all around the world and experienced incredible adventures on this journey. Today, here in my first blog post, I want to share this adventure, my experiences, and the knowledge I've gained with you.

The pandemic process has changed not only our lives but also my language teaching methodologies and platforms. While teaching Turkish to foreigners, I also immersed myself in academic studies, focusing on completing my doctoral education as soon as possible. But life, right? It doesn’t always go as we plan. After my work experience in Africa and completing my goals, I needed new targets. And then I dove into this endless world of the internet... I saw that a lot of people, unlike me, were doing great things in language teaching and even earning money. And I said, why shouldn’t I do it too?

Why not share this experience, this accumulation, with you? This thought was a new beginning for me. While giving lessons and also creating my own website, YouTube, TikTok and Instagram pages...

My language learning and teaching adventure dates back to 2003, and language teaching is not just a professio n for me, but also a passion. However, I must admit that I am just beginning to discover the potential of online language teaching. Learning new things every day, doing new things, and wandering in my library with new ideas every day gives me a different joy.

Prof. Dr. Furkan Kurt gives a practical lesson in Turkish in the classroom. On the whiteboard in the background, the ingredients for making the cake and the Turkish words used are written in Turkish. In the front part, Dr. Furkan Kurt explains and shows the students how to make the cake in Turkish.

Creating my page and blog section gives me an indescribable pleasure. I will write my articles focused on Turkish teaching, but since it is impossible to abstract culture from a language, there will also be my writings in the spiral of language (grammar, reading, speaking, listening, Tur

kish that is spoken on the street, idioms, and proverbs) and culture (traditions, ancient Turkish beliefs, folk narratives...).

And of course, your thoughts! 🌟 I would like to hear your thoughts, questions, and suggestions. Please do not hesitate to share your shares with me and let's learn and discover together on this adventure of ours! We all live once and let's enjoy it together. Take care of yourself and accompany me on this journey!

With love, Furkan 🚀
