METHOD
Rule Logic Method
Turkish suffixes are not random. Every suffix has a logic; once you have seen it, you build the right form in hundreds of words yourself.
- See the rule: with one example, as a table.
- Understand why: how do vowel harmony and consonant assimilation work?
- Use it by speaking: with sentences from real life.
ev + de evde
okul + da okulda
kitap + da kitapta
Why "kitapta"? When a word ends in a hard consonant (f, s, t, k, ç, ş, h, p), the suffix hardens too: d → t. Nothing to memorise; the logic is always the same.
Example: the locative case
The rule: two questions, one suffix
Two questions decide which form the suffix takes. Look first at the last letter of the word, then at its last vowel.
| Last letter | Last vowel a, ı, o, u | Last vowel e, i, ö, ü |
|---|---|---|
| Any other letterD group | -da · masada | -de · hastanede |
| f, s, t, k, ç, ş, h, pT group · "Fıstıkçı Şahap" | -ta · ağaçta | -te · sepette |
